TNB and TM Partner for Solar Power Expansion, EV Charging Networks, and AI-Enhanced Green Energy in Malaysia

Malaysia's leading utility provider Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) and telecom giant Telekom Malaysia (TM) have forged a strategic partnership through a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The collaboration focuses on accelerating green energy adoption and developing interconnected digital infrastructure nationwide.

Core Initiatives Driving Sustainability

Initial efforts target installing solar systems at up to 150 TM premises via GSPARX, TNB's green energy arm.

Solar solutions will also expand annually to residential Unifi Home customers, enhancing accessibility and value through improved packages.

TNB Electron plans to broaden electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, providing more convenient locations for users.

Leadership Insights and National Alignment

TNB President and CEO Ts. Shamsul Ahmad emphasized commitment to the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR), aiming for net-zero emissions by 2050.

"Through this collaboration, we are assessing solar installations and EV infrastructure to boost renewable energy adoption," Shamsul Ahmad stated.

TM Group CEO Amar Huzaimi Md Deris highlighted synergies between energy leadership and digital strengths for a sustainable future.

Historical Ties and Future Impacts

The partnership builds on longstanding ties, including TM's support for TNB substations via communications, SMS, and cloud services.

By December 2025, GSPARX had secured over 530 MW of rooftop solar across more than 3,000 premises.

TNB has deployed around 256 EV chargers, with AI-driven analytics set to optimize energy management and restoration.

This alliance promises cost savings, supply chain resilience, and alignment with Malaysia's Digital Powerhouse 2030 vision.
