TikTok Injects $125M into Vietnam's E-Commerce Boom: Expanding Logistics and Digital Payments in Ho Chi Minh City

TikTok has committed $125 million to expand its operations in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam's southern economic powerhouse.

The investment by TikTok Pte. Ltd. from Singapore aims to establish onshore entities in key digital sectors, as confirmed by the city's Department of Finance.

TikTok's Surging Dominance in Vietnam E-Commerce

Prior to this, TikTok set up TikTok Technologies Vietnam Co., Ltd. with $6.1 million charter capital and TikTok Shop Vietnam LLC with $100 million.

TikTok Shop captured a 41% market share in Vietnam's e-commerce by end-2025, rising sharply from 29% the previous year.

This growth outpaced rival Shopee, whose share slipped to 56% from 64% over the same period.

Strategic Investments in Logistics, Payments, and E-Commerce

The new funds will launch three companies at the Vietnam International Financial Center targeting logistics, digital payments, and e-commerce.

These ventures are projected to manage two billion annual transactions, serve 45 million customers, and generate $10 billion in gross merchandise value.

The move fulfills ByteDance's earlier pledge to shift from offshore to onshore operations in Vietnam.

Ho Chi Minh City saw foreign direct investment soar 220% to $2.9 billion in Q1 2026, fueled by projects like this.

This infusion promises to accelerate Vietnam's digital economy, create jobs, and enhance tech infrastructure.

Regionally, TikTok's Southeast Asia gross merchandise value doubled to $45.6 billion in 2025.

Looking ahead, the investment solidifies TikTok's role in Vietnam's vibrant tech ecosystem amid rising global competition.
