Lux Aeterna Raises $10M Seed for Reusable Satellites with Earth Return Missions in 2027

Lux Aeterna has secured $10 million in seed funding to advance its mission of creating reusable satellites.

The investment, led by Konvoy with participation from Decisive Point, Cubit Capital, and others, will fund the construction of the company's Delphi spacecraft.

Revolutionizing Satellite Reusability

The Delphi features a built-in heat shield, enabling it to survive reentry and return payloads intact to Earth.

Scheduled for launch on a SpaceX rocket in Q1 2027, the mission will test hosted payloads at Australia's Koonibba Test Range via a partnership with Southern Launch.

From SpaceX Veteran to Orbital Pioneer

Founded in December 2024 by Brian Taylor, a SpaceX veteran who contributed to Starlink and Amazon's Leo satellites, Lux Aeterna emerged from stealth in June 2025.

Taylor envisions a paradigm shift inspired by reusable rockets, allowing annual upgrades to satellite components like compute or cameras instead of discarding them.

This reusability could extend satellite lifespans beyond the typical 5-10 years, reducing orbital debris and costs for communications and Earth observation.

Industry Impact and Future Horizons

Similar to efforts by Varda Space and Inversion, Lux Aeterna addresses economic and regulatory hurdles, opting for Australian reentry to bypass U.S. licensing delays.

Investors believe now is the time for this major shift in orbital operations, unlocking applications from microgravity manufacturing to military hypersonic testing.

By enabling dynamic upgrades, Lux Aeterna promises to transform the satellite industry, making space operations more sustainable and efficient.
