Startale Raises $63M in Series A Funding Led by SBI Group and Sony Innovation Fund to Accelerate Onchain Finance and Web3 Infrastructure

Startale Group, a Singapore-based blockchain pioneer, has successfully closed a landmark $63 million Series A funding round backed by major investors.

The round comprises a $50 million investment from SBI Group and a prior $13 million from Sony Innovation Fund, announced in January 2026.

Funding Details and Strategic Partnerships

This capital infusion builds on Startale's established partnership with SBI since August 2025, including a joint venture for Strium blockchain and JPYSC stablecoin development.

Sota Watanabe, CEO of Startale, stated that through deep collaboration with SBI, they will accelerate tokenized stocks centered on Japanese equities and JPY stablecoin this year.

SBI Group Chairman Yoshitaka Kitao emphasized that Startale's integration into their digital ecosystem will drive on-chain transformation in finance.

Company History and Previous Milestones

Founded around 2023 by Watanabe, Startale evolved from seed funding rounds totaling about $20 million, including a $3.5 million raise in 2024, focusing on Web3 infrastructure.

The company has been instrumental in projects like Sony's Soneium blockchain, unveiled in 2024 to boost Web3 innovation in gaming and entertainment.

With access to SBI's over 80 million customers, Startale is poised to transform institutional finance through tokenized securities and real-world assets across Asia.

The funding will scale Strium for RWA trading and expand JPYSC and USDSC stablecoins for seamless fiat-to-crypto bridges and onchain yields.

Future Vision and Vertical Integration

Startale plans to evolve its App into a SuperApp on Soneium, merging asset management, payments, social features, and Mini Apps for mass adoption.
