Singapore's STT GDC Launches First South Korea Data Center to Power AI Growth

Singapore-based data center operator STT GDC has opened its first facility in South Korea, marking a key step in its regional expansion.

The new site, called STT Seoul 1, is located in Seoul's Gasan-dong area and began full operations in June 2026.

Strategic Partnership Fuels Korea AI Ambitions

It was developed through a joint venture where STT GDC holds 60 percent and South Korea's Hyosung Heavy Industries owns the remaining 40 percent stake.

The facility offers up to 30 megawatts of IT capacity across 40,000 square meters and targets high-density AI and cloud workloads.

South Korea aims to rank among the global top three in artificial intelligence, making reliable data centers essential for its digital goals.

This move strengthens cross-border tech ties between Singapore and South Korea, two nations with deep innovation links.

Sustainability and Resilience Set New Standards

STT Seoul 1 achieved Tier III design certification and LEED Gold status while maintaining a power usage effectiveness below 1.3.

Advanced features like redundant power systems and thermal storage ensure high uptime for mission-critical operations.
