Sembcorp Partners with BB Holdings for $450M AI-Ready Hyperscale Data Center in HCMC's Saigon Hi-Tech Park

Singapore's Sembcorp Development has announced a joint venture to build a major data center campus in Vietnam.

Through their new entity StarMason JSC, partnered with local firm BB Holdings, the project received investment approval from Ho Chi Minh City authorities on March 27, 2026.

Project Scale and Investment

The scalable campus will span approximately 4.5 hectares in the Saigon Hi-Tech Park.

It promises up to 90MW of computing capacity, positioning it as a key infrastructure for regional tech growth.

The venture requires a minimum investment of $450 million, surpassing thresholds set for high-tech developments in the area.

Designed to be hyperscale- and AI-ready, the facility aims for Uptime Institute Tier III certification, with aspirations for Tier IV.

Sembcorp Development CEO Lee Ark Boon highlighted the milestone: "This investment approval is a key milestone that allows Sembcorp to contribute its development expertise in support of high-performance infrastructure for hyperscalers and AI-driven businesses in Vietnam."

This marks the first data center project for StarMason JSC, leveraging Sembcorp's global expertise.

HCMC's policies prioritize cloud computing, quantum computing, and data centers through 2030, accelerating such investments.

At $450 million, it exceeds the recent $250 million approval for a project by local giant CMC, signaling Vietnam's booming data infrastructure sector.

The development will support hyperscalers and AI firms, boosting Vietnam's digital economy amid Southeast Asia's data center expansion.
