DayOne Data Centers Boosts Malaysia Presence with Johor Regional Hub and Kuala Lumpur Expansion, Targets 1,500 Jobs by 2026

DayOne Data Centers, a leading Singapore-headquartered hyperscale data center platform, has established a new regional operations and training base in Johor.

This move marks a significant expansion in Malaysia, where Johor has grown into the company's largest market since its entry in 2022.

Johor Operations and Training Center Details

The Johor facility will train over 1,000 data center operations engineers, emphasizing AI-ready infrastructure, energy efficiency, safety, and resilience.

Simultaneously, DayOne is advancing its Global Shared Services Center (GSSC) in Kuala Lumpur to Phase II, hiring over 200 professionals for finance, procurement, and support roles.

Investment and Job Creation Impact

Since 2022, DayOne has invested over MYR 14 billion in Malaysia, with plans for an additional MYR 67 billion in the next two years.

Current employment stands at 600 Malaysians, projected to reach 1,500 direct jobs by 2026, plus 4,000 indirect jobs through local procurement.

These developments underscore Malaysia's evolution as a key hub for regional operations management and talent development in the data center sector.

“Malaysia is entering a second wave of AI and digital infrastructure development,” said Jimmy Yan, DayOne Malaysia General Manager.

“Capabilities built here are now supporting our regional operations; we see Malaysia as a long-term strategic partner,” added Jamie Khoo, CEO of DayOne Data Centers.

Looking ahead, the expansions position Malaysia to lead in sustainable, next-generation digital infrastructure across Asia-Pacific.
