Singapore businesses are outpacing global peers in AI confidence and adoption, according to a new PwC Global AI Performance Study.

The study, surveying over 1,200 executives including 30 from major Singapore firms, highlights local companies' willingness to take risks with 67% embracing AI investments versus 41% globally.

Singapore's Edge in AI Decision-Making and Deployment

Singapore firms lead with 63% making key financial and human resource decisions based on AI opportunities, surpassing the global 51% average.

Remarkably, 43% of Singapore respondents use AI to compete beyond their sectors, double the worldwide 20% rate.

Local businesses are modernizing faster, with 30% eliminating outdated IT infrastructure compared to 18% globally, and deploying advanced autonomous AI at 17% versus 8% internationally.

Government Initiatives Fueling AI Momentum

Historically, Singapore has built AI foundations through the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) and AI Verify Foundation, accelerating with Budget 2026's National AI Council and missions in manufacturing, connectivity, finance, and healthcare.

These efforts, including regulatory sandboxes and tax incentives, position Singapore for hub status amid rising regional competition.

However, gaps remain versus AI leaders, who achieve 7.2 times greater revenue gains, in areas like governance, data management, and workflow redesign.
