Sachin Bansal's Navi Lands $100 Million Prosus Deal to Fuel India's Fintech Growth

Indian fintech Navi has secured its first outside funding with a $100 million investment from Prosus.
This round values the company at around $1.3 billion and signals strong investor confidence in its expansion plans.
Sachin Bansal Builds on Flipkart Success in New Venture
Sachin Bansal founded Navi in 2018 after exiting Flipkart and has personally invested hundreds of millions into the startup.
The company now offers digital payments, lending, insurance, and mutual funds to hundreds of millions of users across India.
Navi also runs the country's fourth-largest UPI app which handled over 947 million transactions worth $5.05 billion in July alone.
Path to Profitability and IPO Opens Doors for Everyday Banking Access
In the financial year ending March 2026, Navi reported revenue of $323 million though it posted a net loss of $48.7 million.
Its lending arm manages more than $1.4 billion in assets and the firm achieved consolidated profitability in the final quarter of fiscal 2026.
The funding arrives as Navi prepares for a $314 million IPO after shelving an earlier larger plan in 2023 due to market conditions.
This development highlights how established tech founders can drive innovation in emerging markets by blending e-commerce lessons with financial services.
For ordinary people it means greater access to affordable credit and seamless digital tools that were once limited to big banks.
Looking ahead the deal positions Navi to potentially evolve into a full bank while boosting competition in India's fast-growing fintech sector.
