Philippines and Vietnam Join Forces on $406 Million Floating Solar Project

Two energy firms from the Philippines and Vietnam have announced a major partnership to build floating solar projects.

The initiative will develop a 422 megawatt peak portfolio across two provinces with an estimated cost of 406 million dollars.

Benefits of Dual Use Solar Farms

The projects will use floating panels that allow fish farming to continue underneath the installations.

Once running the solar arrays can supply power to more than 278000 homes each year.

They are also expected to cut around 460888 tons of carbon emissions annually.

Work over the coming 18 months will focus on engineering and selecting suppliers for nearly 700000 panels and new power lines.

Regional Energy Security Boost

This cross border deal shows how Southeast Asian nations can share technology to meet growing electricity demand.

It builds on both countries experience with shrimp production to combine clean power and food output.

Such projects may encourage more similar ventures that reduce reliance on imported fuels.

Long term they support goals for lower emissions and stronger economies in the region.
