Southeast Asia's First On-Chain Tokenized Physical Gold Fund Launched by OCBC, Lion Global Investors, and DigiFT

In a landmark announcement, OCBC, Lion Global Investors, and DigiFT have launched Southeast Asia's first on-chain tokenized physical gold fund on April 22, 2026.
The GOLDX token provides regulated exposure to the LionGlobal Singapore Physical Gold Fund, issued on both Ethereum and Solana blockchains.
Key Product Features
Investors can subscribe and redeem using stablecoins or fiat currencies through the DigiFT platform, with tokens delivered directly to blockchain wallets.
The fund ensures transparent physical gold backing and institutional-grade governance under the Monetary Authority of Singapore.
Bridging TradFi and DeFi
Kenneth Lai, Head of Global Markets at OCBC, described the launch as a milestone in the bank's strategy to integrate traditional finance with decentralized finance.
Gold has long been a safe-haven asset, and this tokenization builds on the growing trend of real-world assets on public blockchains.
The initiative targets institutional investors and Web3 participants holding idle stablecoin capital in Asia.
By enhancing efficiency, interoperability, and digital workflows, it strengthens Singapore's position as a digital asset hub.
Looking forward, experts predict increased adoption of tokenized RWAs, unlocking new investment opportunities across the region.
Teo Joo Wah, CEO of Lion Global Investors, emphasized the fund's physical asset assurance and robust management.
Henry Zhang of DigiFT noted how this advances open, interoperable financial systems for gold exposure.
