Malaysia Deepens AI Partnership with Microsoft: Microsoft Elevate Targets Millions for AI Nation 2030

Malaysia's Ministry of Digital and Microsoft have announced an expanded national AI partnership through the launch of Microsoft Elevate.

This initiative strengthens Malaysia's AI readiness in line with the AI Nation 2030 vision.

Broader Reach for AI Skilling

Microsoft Elevate extends AI training to educators, MSMEs, retired servicemen and women, learning institutions, and civil servants.

The program partners with the National AI Office (NAIO), Sekretariat Majlis TVET Negara, Biji-biji Initiative, and Mereka for a whole-of-nation approach.

Its pilot phase, starting in January 2026, has already reached 80,000 learners.

Historical Foundations of Collaboration

The new effort builds on prior successes like AIForMYFuture, which skilled 800,000 Malaysians, and Bersama Malaysia, empowering 1.53 million in cloud, AI, and cybersecurity.

Combined, these initiatives have upskilled over 2.3 million people, laying groundwork for deeper AI integration.

Roadmap to 2030 and Lasting Impact

A phased roadmap outlines skilling, workforce activation, sector deepening, institutionalization, and sustainability by 2030.

Minister Gobind Singh Deo stressed the need for public-private collaboration to position Malaysia as a regional AI hub.

Partners emphasize responsible AI adoption across classrooms, communities, and workplaces for inclusive growth.

Future plans include global rollout in Southeast Asia to prepare for an AI-powered economy.
