Furukawa Electric Invests $345M in Data Center Cooling Expansion Across Philippines, Thailand, and China to Meet AI-Driven Demand

Furukawa Electric, a leading Japanese technology firm, has announced a major investment of at least $345 million (JPY55 billion) to expand production of data center cooling solutions.

The investment targets new manufacturing facilities in the Philippines, Thailand, and China, focusing on both water-cooling modules and air-cooling heat sinks.

Strategic Expansion Amid Surging AI Demand

This move is driven by the explosive growth of generative AI, which is increasing heat density in data centers worldwide.

In the Philippines, Furukawa Electronic Thermal Management Solutions & Products Laguna (FTL) will ramp up water-cooling module production starting January 2027, backed by JPY74 billion invested since fiscal year 2024.

Thailand will host a new water-cooling module factory at Furukawa FITEL (Thailand) Co., Ltd., with mass production slated for January 2028 and an investment of JPY51 billion.

Air-cooling heat sink facilities will be established at Furukawa AVC Electronics (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. in China and FTL in the Philippines, both targeting July 2026 for mass production with JPY4 billion allocated.
