IFC Injects $25M into Seraya Partners Fund II to Drive Sustainable Infrastructure Boom in Southeast Asia

The International Finance Corporation (IFC), a key arm of the World Bank Group, has committed $25 million to Seraya Partners Fund II, anchoring its Southeast Asia Emerging Markets sleeve.

This strategic investment targets sustainable infrastructure projects to bridge critical gaps in the region’s developing economies.

Targeting Decarbonization and Connectivity in Key Markets

The fund focuses primarily on Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam, promoting decarbonization, enhanced connectivity, and inclusive economic growth.

Development impacts will be tracked via indicators such as renewable energy generation and digital capacity expansion.

Katherine Koh, IFC’s Regional Industry Manager for Infrastructure and Natural Resources in Asia Pacific, emphasized that the commitment signals confidence in regional projects and aims to attract more private capital for long-term economic resilience.

James Chern, Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer at Seraya Partners, noted that IFC’s backing validates their unique strategy for infrastructure in Asia’s emerging markets.

This marks Seraya Partners’ first dedicated investment sleeve for Southeast Asia’s emerging markets, complementing another sleeve for developed Asia Pacific markets.

By linking investments across developed and developing markets, the fund seeks to foster regional integration, create jobs, and unlock new economic opportunities.

Historically, Southeast Asia has faced persistent infrastructure deficits that hinder growth, making this influx of private equity particularly timely.
