Huawei Launches Cutting-Edge AI Lab and Innovation Center in Kuala Lumpur to Accelerate Malaysia's AI Leadership

Huawei has officially unveiled its new AI Lab and Innovation Center in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, poised to serve the entire Asia Pacific region.

The 13,638-square-foot facility represents Huawei's first AI-enabled industry incubation base in the country, as announced by Global Vice President Wind Li during the launch ceremony.

Huawei's Milestone in Malaysia

Marking 25 years of operations in Malaysia, Huawei now employs nearly 4,000 locals, achieving over 80% localization while serving 97% of the national population.

The launch event at The Exchange 106@TRX drew Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, underscoring governmental endorsement for the initiative.

Driving Digital and AI Transformation

The center will foster innovation by combining Huawei's global expertise with local partners to develop tailored AI solutions for Malaysian industries.

It aims to showcase advanced digital and energy transformation technologies, promoting deeper collaborations across sectors like telecommunications, government, and healthcare.

From supporting 2G to 5G infrastructure, including U Mobile's second 5G network rollout since 2025, Huawei has been pivotal in Malaysia's connectivity evolution.

By facilitating R&D and education engagements, the facility will train more Malaysian AI talents to bolster the nation's ambition to become an AI-driven leader by 2030.

As home to Huawei's Asia Pacific headquarters overseeing 30+ countries and 11 shared service centers, Malaysia solidifies its role as a regional tech hub.
