Singapore's CASE and LTA Launch CaseTrust Accreditation Scheme to Elevate Car-Sharing Safety and Standards

The Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE) and the Land Transport Authority (LTA) launched the CaseTrust-LTA Joint Accreditation Scheme for Car-Sharing Businesses (Silver) on April 2, 2026.

This new initiative addresses rising consumer concerns by setting higher service standards in vehicle maintenance, pricing transparency, and dispute resolution.

Key Accreditation Criteria

Operators must service vehicles every 10,000km or six months, ensuring they are safe, clean, and roadworthy with detailed audit records.

Pricing and surcharges must be disclosed upfront, with membership renewals on an opt-in basis and no fees during suspensions.

Liability rules for late returns and damages are transparent, including mandatory collision damage waivers to limit consumer financial exposure.

Complaints require acknowledgment within three working days and resolution within 21 working days.
