Alipay Launches Revolutionary AI Payment Service for Autonomous Agents in China

Alipay has unveiled a pioneering AI-powered payment service designed specifically for autonomous AI agents on April 22, 2026.

This innovation enables AI agents, playfully called "lobsters" in China, to execute purchases and transactions based solely on user instructions without needing coding or complex setups.

Building on Alipay's AI Payment Legacy

The new service expands upon the Alipay AI Pay launched in 2025, which has already attracted over 100 million users.

By February 2026, Alipay AI Pay processed more than 120 million transactions in just one week, from February 5 to 11.

Key Features and Seamless Integration

Users can easily install the service into OpenClaw-type AI agents, complete a simple identity verification, and then direct the agent for tasks like subscription renewals.

All transactions mandate explicit user confirmation and allow modifications or cancellations at any time for added control.

It integrates natively with platforms such as Alibaba Cloud’s JVS Claw and Ant Group’s DTClaw, while supporting other agents like Claude Code and Hermes Agent.

Robust Security and Real-World Impact

Security is fortified through user-initiated activation, identity checks, transaction authorizations, and ongoing risk monitoring.

The service is already powering AI-driven commerce in retail like Luckin Coffee, smart devices such as Rokid glasses, and apps including Qwen.

Alipay has also rolled out developer tools like Payment MCP Server and AI Tipping to fuel broader AI commercialization.
