Singapore's MINT Fund Awards $2.91M to Robotics Leaders for In-Water Hull Inspection and Cleaning Innovation

Six innovative robotics companies have received $2.91 million in R&D co-funding from Singapore's MINT Fund to develop advanced in-water hull inspection and cleaning solutions.

The selected partners are Alicia Bots, C-Leanship, Neptune Robotics, Oceanis Robotics, RINA, and SEAHI Robotics.

Targeting Biofouling in World's Busiest Port

Marine biofouling on ship hulls causes increased hydrodynamic drag, leading to higher fuel use and emissions in high-traffic hubs like the Port of Singapore.

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) chose these firms from 19 proposals submitted by 36 companies across nine countries under its Call for Proposals.

Current hull cleaning technologies struggle with automation in complex areas such as propellers, rudders, and sea chests, especially under strong currents and in tight spaces.

Trials, Impact, and Maritime Decarbonization

Projects unite technology providers, service operators, classification societies, and shipowners to validate solutions in real port conditions without disrupting operations.

Funding supports development and 18-month trials starting in the second half of 2026, focusing on efficiency, safety, cost-effectiveness, and environmental sustainability.
