The Role

We're looking for engineers who can help us wrangle complex systems and delight users along the way.

Over 70% of our new code is AI-generated. We're not just using AI — we're deep in the weeds figuring out how to build reliable, production-grade software with it. What does code review look like when 500 agents made a PR last night? How do you maintain quality across a codebase when everyone in the company is vibe coding? These are the questions we're answering in real time, and this role is at the center of that.

We want someone who's excited to shape that playbook — to experiment with new tools, push the boundaries of what's possible, and help define how a small team punches way above its weight with AI as a force multiplier.

As a Wefunder engineer, you'll have a tremendous amount of influence, the ability to make a huge impact, and be expected to work on a little of everything. There's no red tape. It's a small team, and we move fast.

We're very good at figuring out visa sponsorship when required.

Location & Culture

We're strong believers in an in-person culture. Our HQ is in San Francisco — we have two offices, one in the Mission and one in Seacliff with a view of the Golden Gate Bridge.

We're a small team of ~30 that hires carefully. In this new AI world, one star can outcompete 10 average people. We'd rather stay lean, move fast, and spend our time building — not navigating big-company bureaucracy.

We're tight-knit enough to spend 10 days on a train together without killing each other. Four times over the years, we've all taken the Amtrak coast to coast, stopping in 12 cities. We're a team of doers and thinkers who are insatiably curious — not just about work, but about kickboxing, mountaineering, chess, and everything in between.

• Complexity wrangler

  We move money, deal with securities law, and serve both founders and investors. Our systems are complex by nature. You're someone who can navigate that complexity and keep things simple where it counts.

• Thrives in chaos

  Ability to deal with the chaos and ambiguity of a startup. Things change, surprises happen. There will be uncertainties in and out of our control. Our job is to ship product and keep the money flowing.

• Sweats the details

  We're building a platform where people invest real money. Every pixel, every error state, every edge case matters. You care about the user experience as much as the architecture underneath it.

• AI-excited

  You're genuinely excited about AI tools and figuring out the new playbook. Over 70% of new code is AI-generated. We're rewriting the rules of how software gets built, and we want people who are energized by that — not threatened by it.

Requirements

• Smart > experienced

  We don't care what languages or frameworks you've used before. If you're smart, you'll figure it out. We use Rails and React, but what matters is that you can build things that work.

• AI-native

  You are on the bleeding edge of AI tools. You use Cursor, Codex, Claude, or whatever's your favorite CLI — not as a novelty, but as a core part of how you generate code and think through problems.

• Full stack

  You can build and ship a feature end-to-end. Frontend, backend, database, deploy. No hand-offs, no waiting around.

• AI Deal Room

  Create an intelligent due diligence assistant that helps investors evaluate startups faster — pulling in financials, market data, and founder track records so they can make smarter bets in minutes, not weeks.
