Build & DevOps Engineer for Robotics - San Francisco
Polymath RoboticsUnited States
Date Posted
06 March, 2026
Salary Offered
$120,000 — $150,000 yearly
Overview:
Polymath Robotics is creating software that can safely control all of the world's industrial vehicles, and we’re looking for a Network Engineer/DevOps person to join our team. We’re a small, close-knit group of roughly 20 people, each of us experts in our fields, working to bring autonomous vehicles to various industries quickly. We believe robotics and autonomy are at a tipping point, similar to how the PC industry reshaped the world in the 80s, and we need your help.
We ship autonomy software that runs on Linux and ROS — in vehicles, in the cloud, and everywhere in between. The Build & DevOps Engineer makes sure that process is reliable, secure, and automated. You’ll work across build systems, CI/CD, and internal tooling to make sure everything “just works.”
Responsibilities:
- Own and maintain CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Buildkite, or similar).
- Automate build, test, and release workflows for ROS and Linux targets.
- Develop internal tools for deployment, testing, and integration.
- Enforce good security practices for internal and external builds.
- Extend automated self-test and integration testing for software releases.
- Collaborate with developers to improve build reproducibility and performance.
- Maintain visibility into build and deployment metrics (“what’s broken and why”).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- 1–3 years of experience in DevOps, build systems, or software tooling roles.
- Proficiency with Linux development environments.
- Familiarity with ROS build systems (colcon, catkin) strongly preferred.
- Experience with Git, CI/CD, and container tooling.
- Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code or configuration management tools.
- Passion for automation and developer productivity.
Why Join Polymath Robotics?
- Collaborative Environment: Work alongside fantastic team members on collaborative projects
- Hybrid Workplace: Enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid work model, with engineering based in our SF Mission office three days a week, giving a good balance of maker time and synchronization time.
- Open Source Advocacy: We strongly support open-source robotics efforts, allowing your work to be shareable and publishable whenever possible.
- Humor & Passion: We might occasionally be a bunch of rosbags, but our passion and humor drive us to accelerate the realization of autonomous vehicles in the industry.
Application Process:
Interested candidates are invited to submit their resume, and any relevant portfolio or project links. A cover letter is optional, but always appreciated.
Polymath Robotics is an equal-opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. We don’t look for a “cultural fit”, we look for people who add to the culture.
