The Gem Capital owns Far East Gem Lab, Far East Gem Institute, The Gem Museum, The Gem Museum Shop, Far East Gems Import, Far East Gems & Jewellery and the brand The King's Bespoke.
Established since 1980, founder Mr. Tay Thye Sun started the retail shop selling gemstones and jewellery. As a graduate from Imperial College with a Masters in Geology, Mr. Tay's passion for gemstones led him to start on the journey of doing geological and gemological researches. That passion for scientific research birthed forth the gem testing lab, which serviced the trade in Singapore.
The school emerged during the same period, as the second generation jewellers began to come into their family business to carry on the jewellery trade in their family. Fathers sent their children to Mr. Tay to learn how to identify and grade gemstones, diamonds and Jade.
In 2008, Mr. Tay's son took over the retail business and picked up the designing, making and selling of jewellery. He participates in international jewellery fairs and also local consumer jewellery fairs. In the same year, Ms. Loke Huiying began the revamp of the institute.
The institute contains a wealth of knowledge and gem mineral specimen. Hence, in 2015, Ms. Loke initiated the setting up of The Gem Museum in Singapore. The Gem Museum is the first and foremost comprehensive gems and minerals museum in Singapore that is opened to the public. The museum educates the public of the gem mineral's story from Mine to Market. It attracted the attention of the media and the public.
Currently, The Gem Museum houses the retail showroom which is Far East Gems and Jewellery. The jewellery retail business is meant to integrate into the museum's mine to market story, giving visitors a realistic view of what the market is like and to understand the value of gems, minerals and jewellery. The Gem Museum also supports the opening of another retail shop, The Gem Museum Shop, which is situated in the heartland malls of Singapore.
The King's Bespoke (aka TK bespoke) is our newest brand, serving customers from all walks of life for their wedding and engagement needs. This company focuses on sourcing of the finest and most relevant gemstones for customers, as well as customised design and manufacturing of engagement rings.
The Gem Capital envisions itself to be the leader in the gems and jewellery trade that spreads the passion for gems, minerals and jewellery, through great customer experience as well as relevant and updated educational information.
