About Hyunji Yu
When you look around in the mountains, you might first notice the trees. If you focus on the trees, you miss out on the view of the forest. Likewise, while it is important to consider the details, more important is the ability to see the bigger picture. In design, observing the flow of work and relationships with colleagues and clients is vital. I want to be a designer who walks through and sees the forest as a whole.
By nature, design demands attention to detail. It can be easy to get lost in them, to not see the forest for the trees. While it is important to consider the particulars, it is even more vital to view a project as an entire habitat: individual mouse clicks, a well-observed work flow, a respect and appreciation for the relationships between colleagues and clients alike. This is the forest of design I work to understand.
