We are Austria's most active seed to series A venture capital investor.

The aws Gründerfonds is an Austrian venture capital investor based in Vienna. 

Two funds are currently active:

1. the aws Gründerfonds (MEUR 68.5 equity capital), with a term from 2013 to 2026, currently in the divestment phase.

2. the aws Gründerfonds II (MEUR 72+ equity capital), with a term from 2023 to 2033, currently in the investment phase and looking for high-growth Austrian start-ups.

Together with experienced co-investors, we invest in promising Austrian start-ups, from the first growth phase (seed) through further follow-up financing rounds (Series A/B) to the exit.

The aim of the aws Founding Fund is to support its portfolio companies in the best possible way on their way into the market and in their sustainable growth in a spirit of partnership and to accompany them on an equal footing in their implementation.

Investment Focus:

• Ticket size : MEUR 0.5-1.5 initial investment; total up to MEUR 5 per investment

• Phase : Seed - Series A

• Investment approach : Co-investments with competent and industry-experienced venture capital investors

• Focus : Outstanding founders in complementary teams with scalable business models

• Sectors : Enterprise SaaS, AI, Deep Tech, Green Tech, Digital Health, Fintech & opportunistic other sectors

• Geography : Focus on start-ups based in Austria, minimum requirement of permanent establishment in Austria

• Role : Support in corporate development through active portfolio management and board seat
