UTEC- The University of Tokyo Edge Capital Partners Co., Ltd.

Since our inception back in 2004, we UTEC have been working with academia in Japan and abroad including the University of Tokyo. We have supported technology ventures that create new industries to solve global issues of humankind, by bringing together capital, talent, and knowledge; around science and technology.

With our latest fund UTEC 5 Limited Partnership founded with the commitment of over JPY 30 billion in 2021, we have managed five funds totaling near JPY 85 billion. Over the four previous funds, we have invested in over 150 start-ups, 20 of which went public and 20 of which achieved other forms of substantial exits, mainly in the form of M&As. These successes have been the results of continuous, patient hard work by all our related distinguished parties including researchers, entrepreneurs, investors and partners in collaborative firms.

UTEC will continue to support the creation and growth of start-ups that stem from innovative science/ technology, are led by a strong team, and have a global ambition. We will provide hands-on support from the seed/early stages in cooperation with our partners in academia in Japan and abroad.
