Raised in Montana. Attended Deep Springs College. Studied Zen Buddhism at Tassajara. Worked as a reporter and editor for 10 years at the New York Times and Bloomberg News, out of their Paris bureaux. Came to San Francisco in 2013 and joined FutureAdvisor (W10), acquired by BlackRock in 2015) as their head of communications, and later, recruiting. Founded Skymind (W16), which would later become Pathmind. Interests: early-stage investing, geo-engineering, foreign languages, molecular biology.
