RISE, one of the largest technology conferences in Asia, will be returning to Hong Kong in 2022 as an in-person event.
The conference was initially supposed to be held in Malaysia due to the Hong Kong protests back in 2019 - 2020, which made the country unsafe for international travellers.
The announcement of RISE's return to Hong Kong was sent out via an email newsletter earlier today, which also included discounts on the conference tickets.
The conference's official website headline has also been updated from "After five great years in Hong Kong, the most brilliant minds in international tech will gather at RISE in Kuala Lumpur." to "The largest tech gathering in Asia is returning to Hong Kong".
Today, we're sharing the news that RISE will be returning to Hong Kong in March 2022 as an in-person event. We're delighted to announce that we will be staying in the city that's been our home since 2015 – the city where RISE has become Asia’s largest tech event.
Past speakers have included Alibaba co-founder and executive vice chairman Joseph Tsai, Stripe co-founder and president John Collison, Magic Leap CEO Peggy Johnson, and Sequoia Capital founding managing partner Neil Shen.
Many thousands of global tech founders, startups, investors and members of the media will be meeting us in Hong Kong from March 14–17, 2022.
RISE's return to Hong Kong is not surprising, considering life in the island nation has begun stabilising.
Malaysia on the other hand, still suffers from rising daily cases, coupled with volatile shake-ups from within the government.
