One of the most popular tech conference organizers in the world, Web Summit, announced today that the signature RISE Conference will be moving to Kuala Lumpur in March 2022.

The company also announced that the flagship Web Summit event will also be launching in Tokyo, Japan, and scheduled to kick-off in 2022 too.

RISE has been held in Hong Kong for the past 5 years. In November 2019, Web Summit postponed RISE to 2020 due to the Hong Kong protests. The event however, was held virtually in 2020 due to the global pandemic. 

RISE 2022 will be an in-person event, with the company agreeing to a 3-year partnership with the Malaysian government through the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), a government ministry fostering the growth of the country's digital economy.

"This is not a goodbye to Hong Kong. We hope to return to the city in the future with a brand new event.", mentioned Web Summit CEO, Paddy Cosgrave.
