Stripe and Grab have teamed up to offer greater accessibility for online payments in Southeast Asia.
Starting from today, developers using Stripe can easily integrate GrabPay as a payment option in Malaysia and Singapore.
Key Highlights
- Developers using Stripe as a payment gateway can now integrate GrabPay as another payment option for their customers.
- GrabPay on Stripe is currently only supported in Malaysia and Singapore as Stripe isn't available in other Southeast Asian countries yet (it is coming to Philippines real soon).
- Platforms that integrate GrabPay via Stripe will also allow customers to receive GrabPoints upon making payments.
Why It Matters
- Stripe is one of the leading payment companies in the world used by a large number of developers.
- Stripe isn't the only payment company offering GrabPay as a payment option, as its competitor Adyen also supports GrabPay in Malaysia, Singapore, and even The Philippines as well.
- Stripe is currently in "Beta" for users in the Philippines, and will most likely be "going public" in the near future, possibly even including GrabPay as a payment option.
- No news on whether GrabPay will be accepted in The Philippines via Stripe has been mentioned.
