Malaysian startup, MID Servicing, is on a mission to help people fix their home appliances a lot more effectively, starting with water dispensers and water filtration systems.
Founded by serial entrepreneur Melanie Loh, MID operates a mobile application that lets people find technicians to install or service their appliances.
The idea came when Melanie was running a previous home appliances business — she realized many people were having difficulties getting effective customer support when their water dispensers broke down.
Many companies like hers were also having trouble catering to the customer service requests coming from different geographical areas.
Users simply need to specify the model number of their water dispensers, fill in a simple form on the app, and MID will diagnose the problem and dispatch a technician who can help.
Since it's inception just 4 months ago, MID has already processed more than 400 jobs, driving close to RM40k (~$10k) in revenues each month — and this is only with a limited range of products.
Melanie believes that MID has the potential to evolve into a one-stop solution for all homes to provide sourcing, installation, repair, and design visualization needs for all home appliances, all while creating jobs for the B40 population.
There is a gap in the market that competitors are not addressing, and we aim to solve it with MID. This will not only make life a whole lot easier and save costs for consumers, but it will also provide a platform to put food on the table for the lesser fortunate, such as the B40 group.
Moving forward, the team aims to raise a seed round to expand their services across Malaysia, and cater to a wider range of water dispenser brands and home appliances out there.
