Grab has announced that the company will soon be rolling out a B2B marketplace for small businesses across the region to sell their goods online.

Dubbed "GrabMerchant", the platform will be a self-serve platform allowing Grab's merchant partners to buy supplies at wholesale rates, set up online stores, as well as receive cashless payments.

The platform will also provide tools for business insights, allowing merchants to keep track of their sales, operations, and more.

The unveiling of this new service is part of a broader mission in supporting small businesses, especially during this challenging economy.

According to a statement, GrabMerchant is expected to roll out later this month in the form of a mobile app, with a desktop (web-based) portal rolling out from July.

Somewhere around 78,000 merchants were onboarded to Grab between March and April, with small businesses seeing a 21% increase in online revenue during nationwide lock-downs.

“Covid-19 has accelerated change. We have seen dependency on online services grow exponentially almost overnight,” mentioned Grab co-founder, Hooi Ling Tan.
