KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit is expected to continue its uptrend next week, trading at 4.28 to 4.29 against the US dollar, ahead of the United States (US) Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting on Sept 17-18.

It rose against the euro, closing at 4.7664/7747 from 4.8087/8148 last week, and gained against the British pound to 5.6439/6538 versus 5.7010/7083, but fell vis-a-vis the Japanese yen to 3.0570/0625 from 3.0296/0337 a week earlier.

A stronger polling outlook for the Democratic candidate, US vice-president Kamala Harris, would be bearish for the dollar, while an improvement in the former US president Donald Trump’s numbers would likely boost the greenback,” he added.
