Lucid Bots, a pioneering robotics firm based in Charlotte, North Carolina, has raised $20 million in Series B funding to ramp up production of its groundbreaking window-washing drones.
The round, co-led by Cubit Capital and Idea Fund Partners, boosts the company's total funding to $34 million.
From Humble Beginnings to Robotics Innovation
Founded in 2018 by CEO Andrew Ashur, Lucid Bots started as a traditional cleaning company to master the industry before developing advanced robotics solutions.
Ashur's motivation stemmed from observing perilous window-washing incidents, like swing stages crashing into buildings on windy days, underscoring the urgent need for safer alternatives.
Flagship Products Revolutionizing High-Rise Maintenance
The company's Sherpa drones and Lavo robots, fully designed and manufactured in the U.S., enable cleaning companies to tackle dangerous high-elevation jobs efficiently.
These robots combat key industry pain points, including aging infrastructure, escalating maintenance difficulties, and acute labor shortages.
Sales took five years to reach 100 units but are now accelerating toward 1,000, driven by proven on-site performance and data-driven enhancements.
“We have more requests for demos than we have hours in the day, so we need to scale up capacity and headcount,” said Ashur.
Customers are pushing the robots into new applications like painting, waterproofing, and sealing, generating around 50 inbound leads monthly prior to any marketing efforts.
Future Growth and Broader Industry Impact
The fresh capital will fund aggressive hiring and manufacturing expansion, as the current facility has even exhausted its parking spots due to demand.
Looking ahead, Lucid Bots aims to refine its technology using field data while venturing into adjacent markets, such as waterproofing massive stadiums.
By prioritizing tangible results over robotics hype, Lucid Bots is set to transform hazardous manual labor into safe, scalable automation for global infrastructure upkeep.
