Harbinger, the innovative EV startup, has revealed the HC Series Cab, a smaller medium-duty work truck designed to transform fleet operations.
The new vehicle comes in all-electric and range-extended hybrid variants, with the hybrid promising up to 500 miles of range to meet demanding commercial needs.
Harbinger's Journey from Startup to EV Leader
Founded in 2022 in Los Angeles, Harbinger has rapidly scaled by securing $100 million in Series B funding in January 2025 and $160 million in Series C by November 2025.
Prior to this launch, Harbinger gained traction with its larger truck chassis, attracting major customers like FedEx and THOR Industries for both electric and hybrid configurations.
Key Features and Market Impact
The HC Series Cab emphasizes maneuverability with a tight turning radius, easy entry and exit, and a flexible chassis suitable for custom upfits like cargo boxes or flatbeds.
CEO John Harris highlighted that the platform outperforms legacy diesel trucks in payload, range, and onboard capabilities through advanced electrification.
This reveal addresses key fleet pain points, offering lower total cost of ownership and reduced maintenance in the commercial trucking sector amid EV market challenges.
Diversification and Future Vision
Harbinger has diversified beyond vehicles by launching energy storage products in January 2026 with Airstream as its first customer and acquiring autonomous software firm Phantom AI in February 2026.
Through vertical integration of in-house suppliers for batteries, motors, suspensions, and axles, the company aims to build long-term stability and expand revenue streams.
Looking ahead, Harbinger plans to sell these components externally while pushing hybrids and EVs as the future for reliable field work in commercial fleets.
