Global ecommerce network, eBay is eager to take advantage of the Malaysian thriving Small and Medium Entreprises (SMEs) in accordance with the Malaysian government's Digital Free Trade Zone (DTFZ) effort.

" Right now, eBay takes in 168 million active customers globally buying products offered by more than 1.1 billion postings in our market place. Through this, we are able to assist Malaysian SMEs broaden their business offerings by presenting an international store front accessed by customers across the world," stated Wong Mei Inn, Country Head Trade, eBay Malaysia in a report.

" Along with Malaysia's improved internet facilities and the imminent DTFZ , there's no greater opportunity for Malaysian entrepreneurs to go global."

She stated as well that the surge in high speed internet adoption paired with continuous govt assistance for ecommerce has reduced the barriers for the public to start business online.

Therefore, eBay will concentrate on providing localised seller support to stimulate the expansion of Cross Border Trade selling in Malaysia by forming strategic efforts to prepare local entrepreneur with a competitive edge over non-Ebay ' sellers.

This support would include 3 types which are technological, logistical along with education and business.

"Within the age of the digital economy, eCommerce is really the way to go for entrepreneurs, particularly with the country's industry growth anticipated to increase to RM 16.3 billion in 2017 alone," said Wong.

A study that was performed by eBay also indicated that the top 3 export destinations for Malaysian sellers are the USA, Australia and the UK.

USA maintains its place as the leading export destination for companies based in Malaysia, with a 60 percent increase as compared to the previous year.

Furthermore, the fastest growing countries for international transactions are Germany (336%), Ukraine (108%) and China (107%) respectively.

Asia Pacific is acknowledged as the world's fastest growing eCommerce region and Malaysia is currently leading the eCommerce market in the region, yielding a revenue of US$ 2.3 billion in 2015.
