SpaceX-operated satellite internet provider, Starlink is authorised to provide its services in the Philippines after getting approval from the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC).
Starlink is expected to cover unserved or underserved villages in urban and rural areas of the Philippines and its services will launch in the next few months.

- The NTC said in a statement that the Philippines will be the first country in Southeast Asia to offer Starlink’s high speed, low latency satellite internet service.
- This paves way for the expansion of Starlink in Southeast Asia with reports of the satellite-based internet venture of Elon Musk also interested to provide its services in Malaysia.
- Starlink currently operates in over 30 countries, primarily in North America and Europe and it has deployed over 2,400 mass-produced low-orbit satellites.
- The company claims to provide low-latency internet services with download speeds ranging from 100 Mbps to 200 Mbps via connectivity through constellations of low-orbit satellites.
