Indonesia-based alternative meat startup, Green Rebel, recently raised US$7 million in a pre-series A round.
The startup will use the freshly raised funds to further expand its research and development team and increase production to enter new markets.
Green Rebel is also planning to expanding to Malaysia, the Philippines, South Korea, and Australia in the near future.
Recently, the company has launched its products in Singapore and has partnered with multiple restaurants such as Empress, Privé, Love Handle, Queen of Wok, and Dragon Chamber to feature its meatless dishes in special menus.

History of Green Rebel
- Green Rebel was founded by Helga Angelina and Max Mandias in 2020, to focus on producing plant-based meat products for customers outside their own vegan eatery chain, Burgreens.
- The startup has a wide range of products including Asia’s first plant-based steak, vegan cheese, ready-to-cook dishes such as gyoza and chicken katsu.
- Green Rebel mentioned that their products are curated and crafted from natural and high quality plant-based ingredients, and have no added preservatives or refined sugar.
- Green Rebel has partnered with significant food and beverage chains throughout Indonesia such as Domino’s Pizza, Starbucks, IKEA, as well as local chain ABUBA Steak and Pepper Lunch.
- Early 2021, Green Rebel managed to raise US$2 million seed funding led by Unovis and Teja Ventures with participation from SAVEarth Fund, Pacific Horizon Investment Trust, and C4D Partners in the round.
