LEAD School, an EdTech startup based in India, has secured a Series E funding round amounted to US$100 million.
The funding round was organized by Westbridge Capital, joined with GSV Ventures which contains an EdTech-themed portfolio consisting of companies such as Coursera, Course Hero, Turnitin and more.
LEAD was co-founded in 2012 by Smita Deorah and Sumeet Mehta.
Both founders are very experienced in India's education industry.
Sumeet worked in Zee Learn as Chief Executive Officer for five years while Smita founded a non-profit organization called Sparsh to ensure the accessibility of quality education to low-income communities in the Anganwadis, Mumbai.
The inspiration behind LEAD is to make quality education accessible for children in India.
LEAD's vision is to provide "propulsive learning opportunities" to 25 million students in India by 2026.

Currently, LEAD is well established in more than 400 cities with 3000 schools and 12 million students.
With this recent funding, LEAD is looking to expand their business throughout India.
