Following the resignation of Jack Dorsey, Twitter made headlines again with its newest acquisition — Quill, a Slack-like messaging app.
However, the acquisition terms were not disclosed.
With the recent appointment of a new CEO, Parag Agrawal, the company’s former CTO aims to focus on improving engineering of the company.
With Quill under Twitter’s wing, Quill will shut down and its users will have a few days to export team messages before its server is wiped out on Saturday, 11th December 2021.
Together with Twitter, the Quill team will continue pursuing their original goal, which is to "make online communication more thoughtful, and more effective, for everyone".
On Tuesday, Nick Caldwell, Twitter's general manager for core technology, tweeted that the Quill team will help Twitter expedite work on its direct messaging tool and make it a "more useful & expressive way” for people to have conversations.
At the end of Quill’s final blog post, “We can’t wait to show you what we’ll be working on next”.
