iQIYI, also known as China's version of Netflix, aims to hire up to 200 new staff in Singapore to expand its presence across the Southeast Asian region.
Just last Tuesday, the video streaming giant unveiled a new office in Singapore at Robinson Road, which will serve as its headquarters in the region.
The company presently has operations in major cities across other Southeast Asian countries, notably Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, and Manila.
Founded in 2010, iQIYI has quickly rose to become one of the most popular video streaming platforms in China.
Last year, the company generated total revenues of $4.2 billion, rising 16% year-on-year, with over 106.9 million subscribers.
“We will be expanding (into) a whole range of functions here. For our company, we come with content, so content is going to be a big part of the functions that are here in Singapore. In addition to that, we will also have sales, marketing, and business development… making sure we are engaging global audiences”, mentioned Kuek Yu Chuang, iQIYI’s vice-president for its international business.
