China's government is stepping up their efforts on "cleaning up" the country's internet.

Earlier this week, China's Cyberspace Administration announced that it had removed 105 apps from app stores within the country that they have considered to be "illegal".

One of those apps was TripAdvisor.

The TripAdvisor app.

While most of the apps that were taken down were mostly owned by local Chinese firms, it is still unclear to why TripAdvisor fell victim.

TripAdvisor shares fell on Nasdaq after the announcement, but began recovering later on.
