iMedia, one of Malaysia’s leading digital media groups, is acquiring a controlling stake in popular Chinese web portal, Moretify.
The goal of the acquisition is to solidify iMedia's position as the leading integrated digital media group in the country.
Moretify is a leading Chinese language social news media and content website launched in 2017 that has over 800k monthly visitors. The site focuses primarily on the latest and trendiest news on the local entertainment and lifestyle scene, as well as top stories on celebrities, food, technology, and travel.
iMedia was founded in August 2020 by Voon Tze Khay, Loh Ken Wei, Jacky Tee, and Brian Alexis. The company focuses on content, technology, as well as social influencer marketing.
In September 2020, Rev Asia acquired iMedia for a total sum of RM10 million (US $2.4 million), just 1 month after its founding.
In the last 4 months, iMedia has confirmed 5 acquisitions in companies OhMedia, Ittify, Goody25, BeautifulNara, and the latest, Moretify.
The company claims its media network has a reach of over 15 million Malaysians every month.
