GoGet, a Malaysia-based startup that connects freelance workers with businesses on-demand, has raised USD $2 million in a Series A round.

The round was led by Monk’s Hill Ventures, a VC firm from Singapore.

The GoGet platform

GoGet was founded by Francesca Chia back in 2014. The platform claims to have over 20,000 gig workers and serves over 5,000 businesses ranging from Lazada, IKEA, Foodpanda, and more.

In the early days, Francesca saw a labor gap in the low-to-middle skilled workers in SouthEast Asia, and decided to focus on creating a solution that connects businesses with verified (and flexible) gig workers.

Jobs available on the platform range from performing errands or temporary work such as delivery services, catering, sales and marketing, operations, as well as data entry.

Moving forward, the fresh funds will be used to expand their product, technology, sales, and digital marketing teams across Malaysia.

GoGet eventually plans to enter other SouthEast Asian countries too.

“Today, the majority of ASEAN’s labor market are low- to middle-skilled, and the majority are not protected with job security, future career paths and financial services such as insurance and savings,” mentioned Francesca.
