Canada-based company, Proxxi, has launched a new health and safety wearable device to make social distancing and contact-tracing more effective.

The Halo Bracelet, as its called, alerts users to the presence of another band if they come in contact within 6 feet — a useful tool in helping people (especially essential workers) maintain social distancing measures at all times.

The bracelet also continuously tracks interactions with other bands, such as the frequency and the time of contact, allowing health officials to perform contact-tracing activities more efficiently should a new case be reported.

Whether these bracelets will become widely used is yet to be known, as bigger players such as the Apple Watch and Google's Fitbit are also building safety and medical diagnostics capabilities into their wearables.

Both Apple and Google are also expected to release Android and iOS updates that include contact tracing capabilities.

Proxxi's Halo Bracelets have been available since May 15, and can be purchased from their official website at around $100 each.
