With the pandemic continuing to rage on in the US, the economic slow-down has started taking a toll on businesses across the country.

In just a month since lock-downs were initiated, these 20 companies alone have laid off/furloughed over 130 thousand workers in a desperate attempt to reduce operating costs.

• Lyft: 1,270 people

• Boeing: 16,000 people

• TripAdvisor: 900 people

• Hertz: 10,000 people

• Nutanix: 1,500 people

• Automation Anywhere: 2,600 people

• Walt Disney World: 43,000 people

• Air Canada: 5,100 people

• Under Armour: 6,700 people

• Scandinavian Airlines: 10,000 people

• Cirque du Soleil: 4,000 people

• Sephora: 3,000 people

• General Electric: 2,500 people

• Norwegian Airlines: 7,300 people
• Pebblebrook Hotel Trust: 4,000 people
• Union Square Cafe: 2,000 people

Earlier this month, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that over 20.5 million jobs have been wiped out as of April 2020, bringing the total unemployment rate to 14.7%.

To date, over 1.5 million cases have been reported in the U.S., with the death-toll rising close to 100k people.
