As the pandemic rages on in many countries, Google announced that the company will continue allowing employees to work from home until the end of 2020.
The move comes after similar announcements were made by other tech giants like Facebook, Amazon, and Slack — announcing that employees could continue to work from home throughout the second half of the year.
Depending on the situation, Google will begin opening offices globally in June for some employees if local guidelines allow it, although most employees will still continue working out of their homes for the rest of the year.
Tech companies across the world were among the first to mandate their employees work from home, cancelling major events for the year even before local officials issued nationwide lock-downs orders.
Companies in countries recovering from the pandemic have already begun opening offices, requiring staff to undergo temperature checks and physical distancing on premises.
