GoUbat, a new Malaysian healthcare startup founded by serial entrepreneur Asher Looi, is on a mission to bring affordable and accessible healthcare for all.
The service, which went live this year, will allow Malaysians to easily purchase health-related products online, and have them delivered to their doorsteps with extreme convenience.
With over 3500 SKUs on their platform, GoUbat has a multitude of products for users choose from, ranging from supplements, over-the-counter health products, medicines, and even grocery items.
The company carries products from brands such as Alpha.com, Constant, Maxwell, Park@City, Lesly Pharmacy, and many more.
Users can easily sign up on the website in a single-click using their social accounts, and instantly begin purchasing healthcare items they need from an easy-to-use cart and checkout system.
Upon making payments on their selected items, customers then have the option to either have GoUbat deliver the products to their chosen address, or to pick-up the purchase from the nearest pharmacy.
Patrons of the website within Klang Valley are able to leverage GoUbat’s ‘express-delivery’ service in which products are delivered to them in under 2 hours — a service that is gradually being rolled out nationwide.
Aside from allowing people to purchase healthcare products online, GoUbat is also a one-stop knowledge-base for healthcare diagnostics information in Malaysia.
The website acts as an information source for patrons with over 10,000 articles covering various aspects of personal and family healthcare.
The articles are comprehensively written within their expertise areas, providing users with information on symptoms of ailments and the recommended next-steps.
Asher's vision for GoUbat is to digitize the healthcare industry starting with pharmacies and to create a superior healthcare experience by leveraging on technology to better serve society’s needs.
With over 5,000 pharmacies around Malaysia and the majority still operating offline, there is tremendous value that can be brought to the industry.
To encourage pharmacies to leverage on GoUbat as new sales channel for them, GoUbat provides a simplified registration process, ease of publishing their products on the platform, and delivery services to their customers.
Looking beyond merely digitalising pharmacies, GoUbat’s end game is to create a one-stop healthcare ‘super-app’ that would allow users to access an intensive healthcare service directory coupled with alternative solutions to ensure the public has affordable healthcare.
"The healthcare industry is an age old industry with minimal change in the past years. These legacy processes and inefficiencies are costing trillions of dollars, inhibiting people from getting access to effective and affordable healthcare. We believe there is massive opportunity to change this industry, and we're starting by providing a platform to help people transact and gain clarity on these matters.", mentioned Asher Looi, CEO of GoUbat
