Johor Bahru, Malaysia - BEAM today kicked off it's first event in the state of Johor together with partners from iPrima Media

The goal of the event was to provide a point of first contact for local industry players to come together and discuss, share, and form strategic partnerships. The event was sponsored by Austin 18 property development corporation.

Addressing the guests were a distinguished panel of speakers - David Lim, co-founder of GaGa Malaysia, Douglas Gan, co-founder of Vanitee, Abdul Wahab, founder of VRgini, and Pierre Chua, founder of TimeV. The panelists shared their experiences on building their respective companies, acquiring customers, and even touching on the subject of scalability through venture capital financing outside the region.

The panelists also briefly touched on the experiences faced in building startup companies, and how fellow locals can leverage on the infrastructure and tools provided by BEAM, iPrima Media, and Austin 18 to take their businesses to the next level.

"There is an increasing number of entrepreneurs (and aspiring entrepreneurs) in Johor Bahru today but the availability of support is still very much lacking in the area. Our goal is to work together with BEAM to bring more value to these individuals in Johor to catalyze more success in the country. We believe that there are many bright, talented, and passionate people in Johor who are building some great products for our world - they just need some support, resources, and bridges to take their businesses further.", mentioned Shaun Ling, founder of iPrima Media.

The new partnership forged with iPrima Media (and subsequently Austin 18) will explore the possibility of increasing greater accessibility to resources to support, grow, and scale businesses many of these entrepreneurs are running (or planning to start out). Some of these will include working spaces, incubation hubs, access to capital, human resources (skilled talent), corporate connections, and more.
