Our WhatsApp-first product helps everyone from SMBs to enterprises strengthen relationships with their consumers. Through two-way communication, we drive millions of business to consumer conversations and over 250 leading brands like CloudKitchens, Escale, Cogna Educação, Rappi, ADDI, WOM, Platzi rely on our product to deliver customer experiences trough WhatsApp. The company has raised 2 rounds of venture funding in 2.5 years. We are profitable and growing 24% MoM on average.

The VP of Engineering manages the day-to-day operations of the engineering team. VP of Engineering should know who to hire, how to successfully recruit, and manage a team that can successfully work together. VP of Engineering  is the executive that grows and manages the engineering team, is responsible for assessing the time it will take to deliver features (or products), and delivering quality releases on that schedule. VP of Engineering is responsible for setting the right culture, which is critical for retaining engineering talent that would otherwise go elsewhere. VP of engineering would own the culture and the team, while also shipping quality product and giving the rest of the organization transparency into the process.

The VP of Engineering is a great manager and a great team builder. He or she will be an excellent recruiter, a great communicator, and a great issue resolver. The VP of Engineering job is to make everyone in the engineering organization successful and he or she needs to fix the issues that are getting in the way of success.

1. Cares about the happiness, wellbeing, and productivity of your engineering team; is a great people manager and knows how to motivate the team
2. Creates cohesion between product and engineering teams, successfully executing on a product roadmap and vision
3. Determines hiring plans, drive recruiting strategy, and interview process
4. Uses best practices to build, lead, and develop a world-class engineering team
5. Inspires the team, instill a sense of purpose.
6. Understands the tradeoffs between performance, delivery, reliability, and scalability when considering business objectives and deadlines
7. Build, scale, manage, and lead our high-performing, remote engineering team.
8. They own the delivery of product commitments and are always looking to improve productivity. They must also coordinate across departments to accomplish collaborative goals
9. Set up all the processes and organizational architecture that will allow our engineers to both grow professionally and achieve the business goals.
10. Measure and improve the happiness of the Engineering team
11. Drive quarterly OKRs around company goals
12. Be accountable for product quality, security, and performance

Requirements

1. Experience creating and managing an organizational structure and best practices
2. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
3. Proven track record of effectively interacting with senior stakeholders on cross-functional projects.
4. Experience leading a team.
5. Understands engineering brand, and how to create/evangelize that brand to attract top talent
6. 4+ years people management experience.
7. Willingness to coach and be coached.
8. Technical background (SWE or equivalent). Can speak the language, communicate and understand engineers.
9. Experience scaling an engineering organization (~2x+ / year), ~30 engineers.
10. Experience building and coaching middle-management layer.
11. Experience with remote work, ideally across time zones.
