The Solutions Engineer is a member of our Retail Division, working closely with the Retail Product Engineering team, focused on bridging the gap between our core systems, and those of our retailer customers. You’ll work closely with both engineering and client teams, looking to solve the integration challenges between our core systems and those of the retailers we sell our product to. You’ll use your strong communication skills both internally and externally to identify the missing pieces between our product and the systems we’re integrating with, implement solutions that solve real customer problems, help set internal roadmaps to shrink those gaps, and deliver our product at scale to some of the world’s biggest retailers.
This is a full time time located either onsite at our San Francisco office, or remote from anywhere in the USA.
What you'll do here: Meet regularly with clients (retailers) to design & guide integration projects Engage retailers early, alongside business development, to understand the technical requirements Work with core engineering teams to design systems & tools to meet the client requirements Help to implement retailer-specific solutions in our retail integration service layer and applications Collaborate with our product team to develop detailed feature roadmaps to enable customer account growth Plan multi-quarter projects for larger retailer integration projects alongside other engineering teams Help to support client technical teams, working with them to track down and resolve technical problems Build out best practices for how the role works at Standard Cognition - as the first solutions engineer you’ll have many opportunities to shape and improve how our client interactions work Who you are: You have 3+ years of experience in a technical client-facing role, in either SAAS or retail environments You have excellent presentation and communication skills You can create diagrams & workflows to explain complex systems and complex integration projects to a variety of audiences You have the ability to take vague customer talking points and turn them into real, actionable written requirements You can build simple tools & integrations in at least one programming language You feel comfortable reading and writing API documentation You have some understanding of security & privacy, and how these might matter to top-tier global retailers You are comfortable communicating both client requirements as well as internal engineering and product requirements You are comfortable writing basic demo code in a language of your choice You feel comfortable spending 40% of your time in client meetings, 10% of your time writing demo code, 30% of your time requirement gathering + diagrams and workflows, 20% of your time supporting clients integration questions and concerns
