Landed is on a mission to help essential professionals, starting with educators, build financial security near the communities they serve. We co-invest alongside educators when they're ready to buy a home (here’s how it works). Founded in 2015, we are a Series A startup with the backing of Initialized, Y Combinator plus support by great organizations like the DRK Foundation and the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative.
Landed has three main engineering challenges: (1) property valuation and underwriting at scale, (2) moving significant sums of money securely with extremely high fidelity, and (3) building an amazingly delightful experience for our customers, agents, and lending partners. We have an app built in ReactJS, MongoDB and Node.j, as well as a Python-driven backend with a Redshift data warehouse. Our engineering team is growing from 4 to 10 by the end of the year, so it's an exciting time to join our growing engineering team!
As Landed's Software Engineering Lead, you will...
- Design and build user-facing products, owning the entire process from gathering functional requirements from teams, through testing and staging, to deploying
- Design and build internal tools
- Guide the team in making technical trade-offs
- Be one of the primary drivers of Landed’s technology vision
- Optimize your dev tools and workflows
You'll bring these strengths and skills to the role...
- Solid knowledge of JavaScript, HTML5, CSS
- Care for writing clean, well-tested code – you put love into every pixel
- Ability to build and test reusable UI components with React/Node (or similar frameworks)
- Strong UX/UI sensibility
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, or equivalent training, fellowship, or work experience
- Knowledge of how our systems will work for millions of people even when we only have thousands.
We’d be even more excited if you have...
- 2-5 years experience as a software engineer with early, high-growth engineering teams.
- Experience with AWS.
- Experience hiring software engineers.
- Excited about housing markets and how cities grow.
This role is designed for great software engineers that are searching for meaning in their work. Helping essential professionals like teachers, cops and nurses build wealth and financial stability in the communities they serve is what motivates us every day to keep improving our products.
This is a full-time, exempt role based in San Francisco, CA, although we encourage candidates with experience working remotely to apply. We offer a full suite of health & wellness coverage, as well as other programs to support your professional growth, including an annual $10,000 personal/professional development budget.
We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive team that reflects our values and our work. We are excited about all qualified applicants, and we want to be sure women, people of color, those who are economically disadvantaged, and gender diverse individuals feel encouraged to apply.
